Preflight Checklist

  • I use the latest version of YouTube Music (Application).
  • I have searched the issue tracker for a feature request that matches the one I want to file, without success.

Problem Description

The “Quit YouTube Music” menu option is not positioned at the bottom of the application menu, which deviates from macOS Human Interface Guidelines. On macOS, the “Quit” option is conventionally the last item in the application menu for consistency and user familiarity.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the YouTube Music app on macOS.
2. Click on the “YouTube Music” menu in the menu bar.

Expected Behavior:
The “Quit YouTube Music” option should appear as the last item in the application menu, adhering to standard macOS guidelines.

Actual Behavior:
The “Quit YouTube Music” option is positioned above “Writing Tools,” “AutoFill,” and other menu items, breaking macOS menu structure conventions.

Impact:
This inconsistency disrupts the user experience for macOS users familiar with the standard application menu structure and detracts from the application’s UI polish.

Proposed Solution

Update the application menu to reposition “Quit YouTube Music” as the final item in the “YouTube Music” menu, aligning with macOS Human Interface Guidelines.

Alternatives Considered

There is none.

I dunno man, as an ex-macOS user, I didn't quit an application using the menu, I usually right clicked the icon in the dock and click "Quit"

While some prefer using the Dock to quit apps, many rely on the menu bar for consistency. Why should YouTube Music be different when all other Mac apps follow the standard menu bar > Quit approach?

YES! Please do fix that. I use the Menu to quit YM quite often, and almost every time miss the Quit item because it's not the last in the menu.
