Problem Description
There's so many updates, which is very nice, but it would be even nicer if you could update in the app.
Proposed Solution
When you start the youtube music app it asks you to update it and it would work within the app.
Alternatives Considered
.
Additional Information
I don't know if this is hard to implement at all.
I would also love to see this too
I've seen other apps implement the module electron-updater, and it works nicely
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/42286648/is-it-possible-to-auto-update-electron-apps-without-a-certificate
electron-updater does not work on macOS, because YTM-Desktop does not have a certificate.
@JellyBrick certificate costs somethng like 100-200 usd per year, right? (would developer version be enough?) few donations would paid that - if enough people would be interested
But it would worked on Windows and Linux, that is like 2/3 of users, right?
just wondering if the update can be pushed thru homebrew?
I second this – it is quite annoying to update the app. Even if the app opened a browser window and automatically downloaded the correct build, that would be more convenient.
indeed a homebrew release that can be easily updated would already make things a lot better
Would people still be interested in this?
I'd be happy to work on this if there's sufficient want :)
Yes please!
definitely need this. sometimes - even if its good - i am ignoring updates because a "complete reinstall" is very annoying
